Blast From The Past: 65daysofstatic – The Fall Of Math

The Fall Of Math65daysofstatic are currently getting ready to rerelease their debut album The Fall Of Math to celebrate its ten year anniversary, and will also be commemorating it with a special show in London on March 27 where they’ll be playing it in full, so we thought now would be the perfect occasion to revisit this album and give it another look.

Quite simply, The Fall Of Math sets the bar high for the band and really shows why the band are one of the leaders in their genre because they barely set a foot wrong with the album – it’s no wonder that people were so quick to praise it first time round because it just seems to have everything, from soaring melody-driven sections, to gentle emotional sections and even crushing heaviness on occasion.

Retreat! Retreat!, which is perhaps the band’s best-known song, is an obvious highlight, but it’s the title track that really steals the show with the album – building up from silence and adding more and more atmosphere before the band kicks in with a wall of noise interjected by softer sections and then bringing the noise again.

The Fall Of Math really is a thoroughly great album. If you haven’t already heard it, then what are you waiting for?
