Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Luke and I’m the Drummer!
How did you get started?
Well, it all started when I was younger really. My parents always told me I would walk around bashing stuff all day with anything I could find, and it was always when the radio was on. Next thing you know my Dad buys me a full size drum kit when I was 6 years old, and the rest is history. I’ve been in many bands since the age of 16 and now I’m finally in one that feels ‘right’ if you know what I mean. Music has been my passion as long as I can remember!
What’s it like to make it to the final eight of the Red Bull Studios competition?
To be honest, I really thought we weren’t going to make it this year, as we just slipped out of the top 6 before the voting closed and couldn’t close the gap. I remained pessimistic (not wanting to feel majorly let down) the next thing I know I had messages flooding my phone and my Facebook telling me to check the RBDL Instagram. I literally couldn’t believe what I saw. When I refreshed that page and saw our photo come up as a wildcard choice I was gobsmacked, at that moment I felt like I could achieve anything and dreams are sometimes a lot closer than you think. The best feeling in the world without fail.
Have you got any surprises in store for you Download set?
Other than putting on a performance of a lifetime, we have just wrote a brand new song that we were planning to play at download if we got through, So you’ll be hearing a brand new track from us!
Who are you most looking forward to seeing play at Download?
Letlive, Heart in hand, our buddies in Martyr Defiled and of course Aerosmith, Everybody loves Aerosmith.
What’s your best festival memory either personally attending as a fan or in the band? And what’s your advice to all the festival goers?
I’m probably not the best person to ask about this considering I’ve never actually been to a festival. To be able to say my first time at any festival will be on stage is truly humbling, but from what I’ve heard, bring decent footwear and beer and you’re pretty much sorted!
