Who are you and what do you do?
Hi we are Chinese Missy and we play groovy rock and roll guaranteed to make you feet move and your head fall off. I am Bello and I sing and play guitar.
How did you get started?
We were all in different bands which split around about the same time. Rich, Tommy L’Heart and I knew each other, I had some new songs I wanted to try out which they helped me with and the next thing you know Chinese Missy is born. Tom Moore came along a little later into the project but is now very much part of our flesh and blood.
What’s it like to make it to the final eight of the Red Bull Studios competition?
Absolutely mind blowing. Having the opportunity to play Download, hopefully in front of thousands of people is something we’ve just dreamt of. The people at Red Bull Studios have been seriously cool and so much fun to work with, so we can’t wait for the actual festival.
Have you got any surprises in store for you Download set?Â
Well it wouldn’t be a surprise if we told you, so you will have to come and watch to find out. What I can say is that last year at Green Man we played with a whole stage full of Pembroke Corgis.
Who are you most looking forward to seeing play at Download?
Temperance Movement, our drummer Tom Moore is friends with the band. We went to see them recently in London and they put on a really lively show, so to be playing on the same bill them will be ridiculous.
What’s your best festival memory either personally attending as a fan or in the band? And what’s your advice to all the festival goers?
Having 700 people watch our set at Green Man Festival last year dancing along whether they were 8 or 80. Long live Dad Rock!
This is your chance to have your say to make people come see your set at Download.
Loads of our mates originally turned their noses up when they heard we played rock and roll, but once they saw us live they were converted. We guarantee a full-blooded energetic set with every ounce of commitment we can muster. Come along and see it for yourself we promise you wont be disappointed.
