Vinterbris – Solace Review

Vinterbris SolaceStunning, atmospheric and epic – these are just a few words that can be used to describe the new release from Vinterbris, Solace. A mighty and substantial release, this will surely be making waves for a long time to come – it’s something a little different to the standard black metal sound as Vinterbris make good use of melody throughout.

Opener Dysphoria almost lulls the listener into a false sense of security with simplistic yet beautiful acoustic guitars but then slowly adds additional instruments into the mix before you’re faced with a crushingly heavy track that hits all the right notes and packs a tremendous punch – to say this is how you open an album is somewhat of an understatement. Following track Ash Alight keeps the pace going and things progress phenomenally from there, with inclusions such as the more-energetic Fathoms and passionate closer Euphoria really leaving an impression on you.

There’s just something about Solace that really drags you into the moment and captivates your interest; from the softer more melodic sections to the brutally aggressive lines, there’s a bit of everything within the six tracks of the release and it’s like Vinterbris takes the listener on an epic journey, which makes for an exceedingly refreshing listen.

If you’re looking for some exciting and unique black metal, then look no further – Solace is a release for you.
