The Wilde – Young Libertine Review

The Wilde Young LibertineYoung Libertine is a pretty feel-good EP from up and coming British rockers The Wilde and it’s just the right thing to lift your spirits after a rubbish day – it’s just got this bright and happy tone to it and it’s a great little listen from start to finish.

Opener Until Next Time It’s A One Time Thing gets things moving nicely but it’s Bad Bones where things get really interesting. It’s one of those infectiously catchy songs that will be stuck in your head before you know it and the chorus is so memorable that you’ll know it word for word after your first listen alone. It’s also an accessible song that wouldn’t sound out of place on mainstream radio – it’s just perfectly constructed and sees a truly brilliant vocal performance from frontman Tommy.

The Wilde keep the momentum going with following track Whose Skin Are You Living In? which features a huge-sounding guitar line and another strong vocal performance. This band knows their strengths and really play to them, with each track being just as catchy as the last, and the title track is a fitting close to the EP, a bit of a mini epic that sees the band give their all for one last song to ensure you won’t forget them in a hurry. It’s a rather emotive number and really ends things on a high.

Young Libertines is quite simply, an engaging EP, and the songs will be stuck in your head for a long time after the closing chords ring out. This band has the potential to go very far.
