Singled Out: The Storyville Mob – Death Wears A Sombrero

The Storyville Mob

Since the last time we covered The Storyville Mob, supporting Dr Feelgood last year in Llandudno Junction, they’ve had a few lineup changes and the band now features Ben Sterikker on vocals & piano, Mark Hedge on guitar, Mark Thompson on drums and Damian Mckeon on bass.

Still playing their own brand of punky voodoo blues, but with no covers in their setlist, they played in London last summer and even supported Toyah in September at the Tivoli in Buckley, and are hoping to play some more support slots there in the new year.

The band has recently released a new track called Death Wears A Sombrero, with an aim to put out a video for it in the new year, and it is free to download from Soundcloud below.

Death Wears A Sombrero is a little different to the band’s earlier music in the sense that they now utilise keys into their sound as well, but it’s still a good track all the same, a very catchy number that will get your foot tapping along in no time and the chorus in particular is great. At times the track does sound like it needs a bit of polishing as it does get a little repetitive after a while but as a whole the track is a good listen and gives a great impression for what’s in store for the band in 2015!

You can give the track a listen for yourself below – let us know your thoughts!
