About a month ago, we caught Oslo Faenskap in Manchester supporting Satyricon – the review of which can be seen here. Wanting to find out more about the band, we caught up with vocalist Lars Daniel Vestli, pictured above, for a chat.
Can you introduce yourself and tell me a bit about the band?
We are Oslo Faenskap, we are 5 guys from Norway who love to play metal. The band as it is now is about 3 years old. We’ve all been friends since grade school. On Lead guitar- Lord Fredriik Teig Bergstøm, on rhythm guitar- Tord Statle Larsen, on Drums- Niklas Vestaby
You recently completed a European tour with Satyricon – how did it go?
The Dawn Of A New Age Tour was Amazing! Satyricon was really nice to us and showed us how to live life on the road. The venues were awesome and the crowds went nuts. we’ve never been on a large scale tour, let alone a night-liner tour. To go on tour with such a band as Satyricon, that we look up to. it is the greatest feeling in the world. Living the dream Baby!
Which would you say was the best show of the tour?
The greatest show for us was probably in the UK or Warszawa, because of the crowd’s participation. They joined in during some of the songs and they moshed like warriors.
Any interesting stories from the tour?
A funny thing that happened on the first day off, was that somehow we ended up having a rave-party outside our tour buss at a parking lot in London. We kept partying for 2-3 hours straight.
Continuing on the subject of live shows, what is your favourite thing about touring?
Our favorite thing about touring is that we get to do what we love all day, every day! Unfortunately the bad thing about touring is that it has to end and you have to go back to reality.
In 2013 you released your debut album Give Credit Where Credit Is Due. Can you describe the writing and recording process for it?
The 2013 album Give Credit Where Credit Is Due was the first thing we recorded and we were about 15-16 at the time. We played around a lot during the writing and recording process. We have since removed it completely from archives and stores. It was made for fun and so that we kind of knew what it was like to record an album in a studio.
And finally what’s in store for the rest of 2015 for Oslo Faenskap?
The plans for 2015. We are currently in the process of recording a new album that is scheduled to be done this year. We will be touring as much as possible as well.
