It’s always a pleasure to hear new material from The Infernal Sea and with their latest release Agents Of Satan (a 7″ picture disc limited to 333 copies), it certainly feels like the band is going from strength to strength. Agents Of Satan is another concept piece from the band and this time the lyrics centre on the subjects of two Satanic killings.
Stylistically it doesn’t stray too far from the band’s previous offering The Great Mortality, with a similar sort of vibe to the overall sound of the piece, so you won’t necessarily find any surprises on Agents Of Satan. Nevertheless, this doesn’t take anything away from the release – the band clearly knows what works for them and what doesn’t by now, so the two tracks still pack a great little punch.
Agents Of Satan is the more energetic of the two with an in-your-face delivery that is punchy and to the point, and the almost-frenetic approach from instruments and vocals alike is magnificent. Meanwhile second track Skinwalker is a re-recorded version of a track from their The Crypt Sessions release and the cleaner sound adds a lot more bite to the song, and it almost feels like a new spin on the track.
Another all-round great piece of work from The Infernal Sea – and hopefully a nice taster of what’s to come with their next album!
