Crossfaith – Wipeout Review

Release date: 26th January 2018

For me at least, Crossfaith has always been one of those ‘hit and miss’ bands. Incredible in a live environment, so-so on CD. However, their latest EP, Wipeout, has definitely changed my mindset and opinion. Although the EP is definitely short and sweet, Crossfaith makes each of the three tracks count and have created one of those listens you will keep having to go back to because it will definitely wind up stuck in your head.

Opener Wipeout gets things off to a running start, with an energetic opening and a massive chorus that is surely demanding to be sang along to. The balance between harsh vocals and clean vocals is great, and the wall of sound to accompany helps to keep things moving.

Following track Inside The Flames is perhaps the strongest of the three, featuring a chorus that is such an earworm that it’ll be rattling round your head for days, and I’m already excited to witness this one live because I can already envision the roof being lifted with everyone singing along, before things going mental with the heavier section just after the halfway mark.

Wipeout closes with Vermillion Gold, the heaviest track of the three, and it finishes the EP with a bang – and whilst it doesn’t quite have the same impact as the previous two songs, it certainly feels like it will go down a storm in a live environment.

As a whole, Wipeout is a great bit of work from Crossfaith and an all-round enjoyable listen. Stick it on loud and dive right in!
