Tusmørke – Fjernsyn i farver Review

Release date 4th May 2018

Tusmørke are certainly on a roll; Fjernsyn i farver is their fourth release in three years. Despite this, it doesn’t feel like the band are taking a ‘quantity over quality’ approach because it’s another good release from them.

There’s a strangely hypnotic vibe to Tusmørke’s music. You can’t but feel drawn into the album as it progresses because of how immersive it all is. Once again, the flute lines give the music a more unique tone (half of the time, you don’t even expect it when the line kicks in!) and the semi-relaxed vibe to the vocals gives the music a great tone as a result.

One of the highlights of the album is later track Death Czar. It’s a funky little inclusion that also features some English lyrics so it’s nice to be able to understand what’s happening on a more fundamental level with the song. The slightly darker feeling to the song lends itself well to the piece and the more unique percussion approaches give the track a lot more momentum.

Fjernsyn i farver is perhaps not the strongest effort from Tusmørke but is nevertheless a very worthwhile listen with some great inclusions on there. It’s refreshing and focused, and showcases the efforts of a band that has no intentions of slowing down!

7/10
