Seeking Infinity, the new album from Pantheist (and their first in seven years!) is a rather stunning piece of work. Crushingly heavy, it will take your breath away and it’s one of those albums that will just get under your skin.
There’s a lot of stuff going on within the six tracks, to the extent that it will take you at least a couple of listens before the album is able to fully sink in. Pantheist take their time with Seeking Infinity, with most songs weighing in at over ten minutes in duration, and they paint a colourful scene with their music over the course of the album.
My personal highlight is third track 500 BC to 30 AD – The Enlightened Ones. The melody that repeats over the course of the track in several different forms will definitely get stuck in your head the more you listen to the song and although the melody itself is fairly simplistic, it really helps the track to leave a bigger impression on you and the heavy guitars and powerful vocals flow magnificently alongside it.
If you’re looking for heavy, bleak doom then look no further than Pantheist. It may have been a long wait for their new album, but it has certainly been worth it.
