Anomalie – Integra Review

Release date: 9th November 2018

It’s nearing the end of the year and there’s been so many good albums and EPs released already, but Anomalie have shown that there’s still time for more great music with their latest EP Integra. Following on in a similar vein to Anomalie’s last release Visions, Integra is a stunningly atmospheric piece that will really draw you in.

Each of the four tracks brings something different to the table, and it almost feels like Anomalie is taking you on a musical journey with Integra. It’s not quite as rigidly structured as Visions, with Integra being a little more freeform in its approach but that’s certainly not a bad thing because it helps to keep things interesting – it’d be dull if each release was exactly the same.

It’s difficult to pinpoint a specific highlight of the EP because all four tracks are particularly strong. The slight ambient vibe throughout gives a constant air of mystery to the music and the variety to the EP keeps things interesting. There’s melodic guitars and bellowed vocals, frenetic drums and half-chanted clean vocals, and stuff in between on both ends of the scale – Integra has a bit of everything, and everything is done to a very high standard.

Serving as both a nice follow-on to Visions and good insight into what can perhaps be expected from Anomalie’s next full-length release, Integra is an all-round great piece of work. It feels like Anomalie really can do no wrong.
