In recent weeks two much loved Cardiff venues have unfortunately had to announce their closure.
The first comes from Gwdihŵ where the owners announced they are set to close at the end of January. Their statement suggests that the landlords have decided not to renew their lease and have plans to demolish the block. It seems not just the venue is effected, Guildford Crescent is entirely at risk. Gwdihŵ recently celebrated their 10th birthday in November so this recent news has come as a shock to everyone and caused further frustration at the local council to follow up on their promise to save local venues.
Buffalo Bar also announced they have closed their doors. On Facebook the owners posted it’s due to a massive increase in business rates and has become unsustainable. Despite overcoming difficult times back in 2013 the company has stood its ground in the local scene since 2005 and has hosted many upcoming stars such as Adele! It’s sad to see another venue forced to close its doors.
