You can hear things and you’re happy for them to just sit and simmer in the background. And when you hear the latest from Callejon— you’re possessed by the spirit of metal who has commanded you to create a gale force wind by the power of windmill alone, as you have been imbued with the supernatural ability to clear your and your neighbors gardens of their autumnal debris, with your head.
That is the type of energy we are dealing with on Hartgeld im Club. A strange feeling of motivation channeled through the passionate song writing of Germanys’ sexiest export since Porn from Spain. Live. The band called Callejon.
Hot is an understatement to accurately describe the new album. Cool is tried and tested. Chilled. Chilled like a fresh fish straight out of water maybe. This album tries to be a lot of things. There’s so much at play here that you could invent an entirely new genre and just reference it as a Callejon. But hold on Captain Metal even when the blend of melody, metal and middle class mediocrity has been the objective for many alternative acts how these Metalcords does it is just definitely unique to them.
Callejon and their tongue in cheek riffs are a beastly pleasure to behold. Especially so on Hartgeld im Club. Where you’ll find light symphonic elements interspersed with industrial-like electronica. Couple that in with post-modern folk and an unhealthy dosing of rapity-hop. Working together to create a musical chimera that’s strange but exciting to behold; A fine monster of an album that’s confident in its ability to kill your feet by rocking your socks off. On and off the dance floor.
