Straight Lines – Escapology EP Review

Straight Lines – ‘Escapology’ EP.
10/10

You think you know a band and then they take it to a whole new level. The ‘Escapology’ EP released to coincide with their support slot of the We Are The Ocean Jan/Feb tour does exactly that.

The title track shows a maturing side to the song writing of Straight Lines with a mixture of familiar SL lyrical hooks and guitar riffs with a venture into new sounds from the guitar and vocal effects.

Next up ‘Empty Chest’ is effectively a drop in from their latest album, ‘Freaks Like Us’ but in itself is a great advert for those that have yet to purchase the bands second offering.

Another album track ‘Half Gone’ features next, a live session, showing how tight this band is just doing their thing.

The EP is bought to a close by a simply stunning version of ‘Ring The Bells’ also from their latest album. Featuring beautiful guest vocals from Miriam Issac it also shows a tender side to the vocal talents of singer Thomas Jenkins.

In summary these guys can rock it out with the best of them and yet still provide a chilled vibe that shows their versatility.

Not shy of touring, you’d be crazy to miss out on their upcoming support of We Are The Ocean.
A 4 track EP for £2.49? Less than a pint and it’s for life
