Picks Of The Month: March 2020

Everything has all gone to shit and all the live shows have been cancelled. We still have some good music to keep ourselves occupied with, though…

Nat’s Picks

All of my three picks are emotive, melancholic doom. Coincidence? Yeah, probably not.

My Dying Bride – The Ghost Of Orion
Track to check out: Tired Of Tears

My Dying Bride know just how to get you in the feels. Beautifully melancholic and moving, this hits the spot perfectly. There are moments that will move you to tears.

Soliloquium – Things We Leave Behind
Track to check out: The Discarded
Our review: https://www.soundscapemagazine.com/soliloquium-things-we-leave-behind-review/
Purchase link: https://soliloquium.bandcamp.com/album/things-we-leave-behind

This was my first introduction to Soliloquium, but I definitely plan on checking out their back catalogue as soon as I get a chance. Just the right blend of heavy and melodic.

Tethra – Empire Of The Void
Track to check out: Gravity
Our review: https://www.soundscapemagazine.com/tethra-empire-of-the-void-review/
Purchase link: https://tethrablacklion.bandcamp.com/album/empire-of-the-void

Like with Soliloquium, when this album came in for review, it served as my introduction to Tethra. A stunning piece, with just the right amount of bleak.

Dave’s Picks

Just two for me this month. Thank you M’am.

Infected Mushroom – More than Just a Name
Track to check out: Freedom Bill

When you’re taking life slow, sometimes it’s good to get your melodies in quick. They have that here in abundance. It’s a great album all round especially with the Goa-trance bias.

The Birthday Massacre – Diamonds
Track to check out: The Last Goodbye
Our review: https://www.soundscapemagazine.com/the-birthday-massacre-diamonds-review/
Purchase link: https://thebirthdaymassacre.bandcamp.com/album/diamonds

The Birthday Massacre sound like how I image the kids of Gloomsville in Ruby Gloom grow up. Especially on this album. And this album, like the name implies, is an absolute treasure.
