As someone who is deep in a metalcore hole at present, I am always on the lookout for more bands in the genre to get into – so when I spotted an email about The Light Superior landed in my inbox, I couldn’t help but want to check out their brand new song, Tidal Wave.
The band’s debut release I Am came out in 2022, but this is my first introduction to them – and what an introduction it was! Tidal Wave just seems to have everything. As far as the vocals go, there’s a massively emotive chorus, passionate harsh vocals and stunning lyrics, coming together coherently to create something beautiful. And the instrumentation has the perfect balance between melodic moments and crushing heaviness. It’ll have you banging your head to the heavy moments, and you’ll want to sing along to the massive cleans. It’s one of those songs that will surely get stuck in your head once you’ve finished listening to it; I know for sure it’s made a big impression on me and I’ve found myself humming along to the melody whilst I’ve been going about my business.
If Tidal Wave is a sign of things to come from The Light Superior, then needless to say this is absolutely a band that you need to keep your eye on. I for one am already eager to see what’s coming next from this very talented band.
