Anavae are a band we featured sometime ago and I was so pleased when I found out they had recently signed to LAB records, a great record label who have dealt with some of my favourite bands.
February 10th will see the release of first single, ‘Storm Chaser’, is an excellent introduction to the band’s sound, it’s an intelligent piece of modern rock with a big chorus, catchy melodies and a great sound.
The EP is available to pre-order on iTunes now and comes with 4 other tracks, including an acoustic version of ‘Storm Chaser’.
We asked Anavae a couple of questions about the single.
Who are Anavae? Â Anavae are an alt-rock band from South-East London comprised of Rebecca Need-Menear and Jamie Finch.
What is ‘Storm Chaser’ about? Â ‘Storm Chaser’ is about as many forms of frustration that we could throw into 3 and a half minutes. It’s to all those people who live out their lives in a routine, wasting opportunities and wasting ‘life’. To those who trap themselves inside of their heads instead of ‘participating.’ It’s about the internal creative and expressive struggles that we go through day to day. Essentially, it’s our therapy.
Where was it written and recorded? Â We recorded Storm Chaser with Ian Sadler of Emeline Studios who we worked with on our previous EP. Mixing and Mastering was done by John Mitchell over at Outhouse. (Who also lay done some cello on the acoustic version which we’re very excited about.)
Whats next for Anavae? We can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks of our first release through LAB records on the 10th this month. The video location looked absolutely amazing, so we can’t wait for people to see it and hear what we’ve been working hard on. Â We’ve just finished writing our next EP which we’ll be heading into the studio to record very soon.
Also, our very first tour is fast approaching. We can’t wait to finally travel around the UK and play new cities with I Divide on this years Ourzone tour.
As they mentioned, Anavae are heading out on the Ourzone Mag Found tour with the excellent I Divide in March, a video preview of the tour which includes a snippet from ‘Storm Chaser’ can be seen below.
