The People The Poet – ‘3 Years In Limbo’ EP Â
9/10
Just to further whet your appetites after a number of teasers/tasters South Wales’s ‘ambient folk/pop rockers’
The People The Poet release the first single/EP on the 6th May from the much anticipated debut album ‘The Narrator’.
The single is the recent Radio One played track ‘Take’ and as is based on a fan submitted story. Once again The People The Poet have taken on a tough story to translate into a song but boy have they done a superb job with this story. This track shows you (again) just how good they are at not only writing beautiful lyrics but also at putting it all together musically. The production on this track is stunning making for much ear pleasure.
‘Sing’ is next up which fans of the band will have heard on the bands Facebook pages as well as on stages across the country in 2012. Another tough story base but perfectly translated into a positive, uplifting message.
‘The Trip’ featured as part of the self released ‘Thank You For Today’ EP which was the first release under the new name in 2012. Another ‘heart-string’ tugger of a song that celebrates a sad story in a positive way. Earlier this year the band released a full video & an acoustic video of the song which I recommend you check out.
The next two tracks ‘Throw The Boy To The Wind’ and ‘Because Of The Blues’ haven’t made the final cut of the album which upon listening makes you wonder why and at the same time excites you for the impending release. Both cover real life stories of very different natures but ones that many may have experienced in recent times.
Safari Gold add their unique touch to the final track, a remix of ‘Take’ and is a ‘trippy’ finish to a quality release.
The band are also holding an EP launch gig, this Wednesday at Clwb Ifor Bach.
