Abstrakt – Uncreation Review

Release date: 25th February 2021

Uncreation, the second album from Finland’s symphonic black/death metal outfit Abstrakt, is a pretty mighty offering. A very polished and well put-together release, it’s one of those albums you’ll keep wanting to come back to.

Setting the scene well with an atmospheric instrumental introduction, it hypes up the album as it builds up into the first full-length track From Chaos To Creation. The theatrics to the music paired with the magnificently snarled vocal approach works tremendously, drawing you in as the music progresses.

One of the stronger tracks is fourth track The Great Chasm of Humanity. There’s a slightly more melodic vibe to it with the way the symphonic instrumentation sections have been constructed and paired with the vocals, and additionally features some absolutely stunning guitar solos peppered within the track, combining together to craft something incredible. The song just seems to have it all, and although the album as a whole is a very strong piece of work, this track in particular shines.

Abstrakt have really outdone themselves with Uncreation. It’s a highly enjoyable listen, and definitely makes me want to check out their debut – I just want more from this talented band, and already can’t wait to see what they do next.
