Returning to the UK All Time Low set themselves a challenge to fill arenas with a double show after Pierce The Veil exited the tour due to allegations earlier in 2017. Rather than simply fill the void with another support the band have taken it upon themselves to deliver quite the show opening with their second album So Wrong, It’s Right in its entirety.
Opening the show are the excitable Creeper who’ve established quite the cult in the last year. The fans down the front are already singing their hearts out before they’ve even taken to the stage. An inspiring young band for the young ones they remain on a path to bigger things and one quite deserved after their performance. Will’s voice remains strong as does his influence over the crowd to encapsulate them into their short set. It’s unfortunate the sound in the venue feels muted. They end on Misery and whether the crowd know the words or not mobile phones arise from all around the venue for quite the ending scene.
With an early start All Time Low take to the stage to play So Wrong, It’s Right, their second album released back in 2007. With only the album artwork as a backdrop they reminisce on where they started out 15 years ago. They quite rightly leave out hit Dear Maria, Count Me In for later and plough through a 45 minute set filled with dick jokes, memories and what at times feels like siblings teasing and pranking each other on stage. There are fans here tonight from all over the world – one girl holds a sign up saying she’s travelled all the way from the states to see All Time Low on her 18th birthday, whilst others could clearly be seen queuing early for hours in the cold. Their fans are devoted to this band and the love shines back during a moment which sees Alex pause before their ballad Remembering Sunday to get a young fan some medical help.
A short break and outfit change sees them reappear reenergised and bring us back to the present opening with Last Young Renegade off their latest album. The lighting and set design is next level for the band as screens overwhelm the stage and a runway made perfect for those more intimate moments. Confetti prematurely blasts off before Lost In Stereo giving some laughs on stage and some concerned looks from crew but the crowd undeniable don’t care – handwritten signs fill the barrier, phones constantly wave in the air filming every move and the applause never stop – the band and fans play off each other from start to end. As per usual bras somehow make it onto Jack’s mic and is at the constant back hand of Alex’s jokes. Playing a chunk off albumLast Young Renegade sees some new debuts and highlights a more serious side to the band along with soft hit Missing You which focusses on the fans giving them quite some quite the night to remember.
Behind the sparks, confetti and lights are just a group of friends playing what they love and enjoying the ride with no signs of stopping. As they end the encore on Dear Maria, Count Me In it’s been an all time high for the fans.
