Picks Of The Month: April 2018

What’s that? In need of some new music to check out? Well, we’ve got you covered – here’s what we think you should be listening to out of last month’s releases.

Natalie’s Picks

Bleed From Within – Era
Track to check out: Bed Of Snakes

Okay, talk about impressive. It may have been a long time coming, but Bleed From Within’s mighty new album Era is the band’s best work yet. 2018 is most definitely this talented band’s year.

Gravves – Oh, The Joy
Track to check out: Monster Truck

Energetic, punky and featuring several rather catchy earworms, what more do you want from an EP? I’m already excited for their next full-length.

King Goat – Debt Of Aeons
Track to check out: Doldrum Sentinels
Our review: https://www.soundscapemagazine.com/king-goat-debt-of-aeons-review/
Purchase link: https://kinggoat.bandcamp.com/album/debt-of-aeons

I had very high hopes for this album, and King Goat didn’t let me down. Their unique sound sets them apart from the crowd and Debt Of Aeons is one of those albums you’ll keep wanting to revisit.

Dave’s Picks

Spiders – Killer Machine
Track to check out: Don’t Need You
Our review: https://www.soundscapemagazine.com/spiders-killer-machine-review/
Purchase link: http://www.wearespiders.com/killer-machine/

This is like the most articulate child of Black Sabbath and Jethro Tull; You’re never too old to rock and roll but it’s too late to die young.

Heilung – LIFA
Track to check out: Krigsgaldr
Our review: https://www.soundscapemagazine.com/heilung-lifa-review/
Purchase link: https://heilung.bandcamp.com/album/lifa

Bear with me a moment okay. Imagine the idea behind the game Braid but instead it’s (archaic folk sensation) Medieval Babes that are cavorting with Goblins. Still with me? Well they’re doing the soundtrack to Labyrinth together and it sounds fantastic.

Kebu – Kring havet – Meren ympärillä
Track to check out: En sällsam gåva
Our review: https://www.soundscapemagazine.com/kebu-kring-havet-meren-ymparilla-review/
Purchase link: https://kebu.bandcamp.com/

Completely radical this is a one off composition to celebrate Finnish independence.  A departure from Kebus’ purely electronic albums its a special composition that shares much of the momentum of those releases.
