ATTAN’s Playlist

In a week’s time, ATTAN will be releasing their brand new album End Of – preorder your copy from here! Ahead of its release, we asked bassist and vocalist Fritz-Ragnvald Rimala Pettersen for an insight into the music that inspires him and the rest of the band.

A song that influenced Attan
Trap Them – Reincarnation Of Lost Lones

Trap Them (RIP) was one of those bands that seemed like they had endless aggression, and they were true masters at expressing it as well, on record and on stage. In ATTAN we’re firm believers that aggression is a wonderful thing if you channel it right. Reincarnation of Lost Lones is perfect for that. If the riff that smacks in at the middle of the song doesn’t get your blood pumping, you must be dead.

A song they wish they could have written
Neurosis – The Tide

Everything about this song is haunting. From the incredible performance to the dark lyrics, this song is just packed with emotion. Songs that succeed in conveying such an emotional impact while being this heavy are impressive beyond words.

Their favourite ATTAN song
The title track from our new album End Of. It’s ambitious and we take a lot of risks, but I feel we made something with real emotional impact on many levels. We took a leap forward as a band writing that one.

A song they’ve been listening to a lot recently
Ghost – Rats

I couldn’t really get into Ghost before they dropped Prequelle earlier this year. I don´t know why, but the retro horror thing just wasn’t enough. But, when they went all out pop with saxophones and everything on this record, I wasn’t able to deny it any longer. Also, Cardinal Copia dancing in the video looks exactly like our drummer Ralla, cracks me up every time.

Their all-time favourite song
The Ark – Calleth You, Cometh I

That thing is a pop rock masterpiece. In Lust We Trust was, and still is such a badass record. Love above all, no compromise!
