Babylonfall – Collapse Review

Release date: 24th April 2020

A few years ago, at the tail end of 2017, I was travelling round Finland to catch up with a few friends, and one of them said I needed to check out Babylonfall because he knew I would be a fan. He found a demo track online for me to listen to, and even though it was a fairly rough and ready recording, I was instantly hungry for more and ever since then I’ve been excitedly awaiting their debut.

In short – Collapse is everything I hoped for. Stunning instrumentals, powerful vocals and a highly emotive performance from everyone involved, from start to finish. It’s an album you’ll keep wanting to come back to as it’s so addictive.

Tracks like Wrath and Celestials have massive sing-along choruses to get stuck in your head and the latter of the two is my personal favourite of the album. It’s no surprise that Celestials is one of the songs that was released ahead of Collapse‘s release because it’s just so strong. The lyrics are moving and powerful (indeed, Babylonfall have been sharing the tagline of We Are Celestials for quite some time on their facebook!) and the song is so catchy that you’ll want to keep listening to it on repeat.

Each listen of Collapse is fresh and exciting. It’s an accessible album to fans of music both melodic and aggressive, and I for one can’t wait to catch a flight out to Finland once this is all over to finally catch this talented band live.

10/10
