Bleed From Within – Gullivers, Manchester 26/04/18

I’ve seen Bleed From Within a bunch of times over the years and every time I witness their shows, they deliver 110%. Their live energy has always been faultless, with excellent music to back it up, and as such their shows are always incredible.

There was just one opening act for the night, but Dyscarnate got the crowd warmed up nicely. Utilising two different vocal approaches, with deep brutal growls and a slightly higher snarl, it gave the set more variety rather than just being presented by one monotonic approach throughout. The music was good, with a good ferocity to it, and the crowd was definitely onside by the end of the set, with a couple of pits having been started as the performance had progressed.

There was a strong vibe in the room as the mighty Bleed From Within took to the stage and the cheers that greeted the band as they took to the stage gave me goosebumps – it was absolutely fantastic to be a part of a sold-out show with such an enthusiastic crowd that was so onside with the band. Kicking things off with Clarity, the room started moving almost instantly, with things really getting going with second song Crown Of Misery.

An early highlight of the set was Afterlife. A strong song on CD (it’s no surprise that it was a song chosen to be a single), it translated even better in a live environment. There was a bit more bite to the song, and the energy displayed onstage was something to behold. Additionally, older song Last Of Our Kind was another great inclusion, and the powerful pace kept the momentum in the room going.

Frontman Scott was an excellent showman, really getting the crowd going (not that they needed much encouragement, mind!) and at one point even climbed up onto a raised ledge at the side of the room in order to do a stage dive into the crowd. Meanwhile his fellow bandmates gave it their all onstage, furiously headbanging whilst seemingly never missing a note!

As a whole, it was another great show from Bleed From Within, and perhaps the best show I’ve seen from them so far. With an incredible new album and an excellent live set to accompany it, 2018 is most definitely Bleed From Within’s year.

9.5/10
