Bloodbath – The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn Review

Release date: 26th October 2018

Oh, it does make me happy to know that Bloodbath is back. The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn is their fifth album, and is another strong offering from the death metallers, following on well from their previous album Grand Morbid Funeral.

The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn is definitely a grower. On my first listen I wasn’t instantly grabbed, but the more I’ve listened, the more I’ve gotten into it. In particular, Nick gives another fine performance throughout – his vocals have this wonderfully filthy and dark tone to them that lends itself well to the instrumentation, making for an all-round engaging and interesting performance.

Although having a bit of a dodgy/cringy-sounding name, Deader is a definite highlight of the album. The intro is vicious, getting the track off to a running start, and then when the vocals get added, it gives everything more bite. Additionally, the guitar lines throughout this one are spectacular, especially the semi-squealing solo near the end – I can only hope this track will make it into their live set because it really packs a punch and will surely go down a storm live.

The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn is another fine album from Bloodbath. When it comes to death metal, there’s not much better than this band.
