Bullet For My Valentine – Gravity Review

Release date: 29th June 2018

To say that Bullet For My Valentine’s brand new album is impressive is somewhat of an understatement, and I am very tempted to say that this is their best release to date. Bucking the trend of their even-numbered albums being their weaker releases, Gravity is a very powerful and rewarding listen, showing that Bullet is right at the top of their game.

Pulling no punches, Gravity instantly gets things moving with opener Leap Of Faith. Setting the scene with an atmospheric introduction, when the full band kicks in it takes your breath away and the song is a definite earworm so it will soon be in your head by the time you’re finished listening to it. The album progresses well from there, with singles Over It and Letting You Go bringing a welcoming sense of familiarity to the piece.

Although the closing track Breathe Underwater is a little weaker, feeling like it’s going nowhere with not a lot of momentum, the album as a whole is jam-packed with excellent inclusions and title track Gravity is one of the strongest of the album; it’s no surprise that they chose this track to name the album after because it is tremendously powerful. It’s classic Bullet, with a massive chorus and a tonne of energy, yet there’s a subtle freshness to it, showing progression and change with the slight electronic vibe to it.

All in all, a very mighty bit of work from Bullet For My Valentine. Gravity is a phenomenal listen and one of those albums you won’t just be able to listen to once and forget about – Bullet have crafted something special with this one.
