Cove – A Conscious Motion Review

Release date: March 23rd 2018

Cove’s latest EP, A Conscious Motion is an energetic and in-your-face piece of work that surely looks set to go down an absolute storm. It’s heavy, it’s meaty, and features some seriously catchy hooks to boot.

One of the best things about this EP is that whilst Cove do bring the noise, they also balance it very well with a good helping of melody. It means that it’s easier to connect with the music, rather than the band simply projecting noise and aggression at you, and the clean vocal lines are definite earworms that will certainly get stuck in your head. There’s nothing that sets Cove apart from other bands in the genre but nevertheless this is a great effort from them.

A Conscious Motion features a lot of strong entities. Second track Solis is an early highlight; it’s one of the heavier tracks on the release and the vocals are very strong on this one. During the more ‘melodic’ moments, the half-screamed, half-sang lines are also backed up with full harsh vocals and it gives the song so much more bite. Additionally, the chunky riffs and high-energy performance courtesy of the instrumentation is something to behold.

As a whole, Cove have made an impressive EP. A Conscious Motion ticks a lot of the right boxes and showcases a band that is ready to break through into the big-time. Make sure you check this one out!
