Here at Soundscape we are committed to bringing the latest and best new British and American bands, so here are Eighth Wave, we will be reviewing the bands album in the next issue of the magazine and wanted to know a bit more about them so we spoke to the band before they head out on an October UK tour.
1. Who are you and what do you do?
We are Eighth Wave, a band from Wigan and we make awesome pop/rock music!
2. How did you get started?
We formed late 2006. To cut a long story short, I asked Chris (drums), Chris asked Matt (Bass), Matt asked Scott (Lead Guitar) and then Eighth Wave was born! Indie and metal music are quite popular genres in the Wigan music scene, but we wanted to start making music comparable to the stuff we were listening too from America. Mainly guitar pop stuff.
3. What have you got going on at the moment?
We are currently promoting our debut album “Last Night’s Hero”, which is in the shops now!
We are also preparing for our first headline UK tour in October! We’re syc’d to be able to do it! (buy tickets via www.myspace.com/eighthwave)
4. Favourite music and why?
American pop/rock. I.e. Matchbox Twenty, The Calling, Nine Days, The Goo Goo Dolls, Nickleback, Daughtry…. Why? because it makes us feel good inside!! and we want to make others feel the same. There is not enough of this kind of music in the UK.
5. Favourite book and why?
I (Si) like to live every day like it is my last. That doesn’t mean I run down the high street naked, or super size myself (although it has been known). If I spent my last few hours reading a book I would see that as a waste, so I play my guitar and write songs instead in my down time. Not reading, I find that boring.
6. Favourite film and why?
Me, myself and Irene because it cracks me up. Teen Wolf is a close second!
7. Best experience in the business?
Touring with GO:AUDIO in April. We had a blast playing to sold out academy venues every night!
8. Why should Soundscape readers care?
You should care about Eighth Wave because we will make sitting in a traffic jam so much more enjoyable!
9. Tell our readers an interesting fact about yourself/company/band?
Our album was co-produced by Steve Rushton who was formerly in Son Of Dork but now a successful solo artist signed to Hollywood Records. He’s also rumoured to be dating Miley Cyrus now!!!!
10. Who are your role models/idols?
My role model is Richard Ashcroft. He came from the same village as me and has never been the type to sell his sole to the media.
11. Hardest thing about the current business?
I can’t retire to my mansion yet!
