Festerday – Cadaveric Virginity Review

Release date: 26th October 2018

An EP consisting of two tracks, Cadaveric Virginity serves as a nice little taster for what fans can expect from Festerday’s upcoming full-length. As a fan of their previous material, I’ve been eagerly awaiting their debut album and if these two songs are anything to go by, it’s going to be a mighty release indeed.

Taking a definite ‘quality over quantity’ approach (Cadaveric Virginity only clocks in at just over five minutes in duration!) the two tracks both bring the noise and energy to the EP. Relentless and frenetic, opener The Ones Who Strangle Stars and Suns has this fantastic raw vibe to it, harking back to the band’s earlier material whilst simultaneously still sounding fresh and invigorating. The harsh vocals coupled with the wall of noise presented by the instrumentalists is mighty, and the togetherness of the song is something to behold.

Second track Let the Sun Vomit its Beams upon Your Cold Swollen Skin is short and to the point; barely letting you catch your breath as the band powers through it, and surely this is a song tailor-made to be performed in a live environment.

All in all, Cadaveric Virginity is an excellent little piece, and suitably whets the appetite for what is to come in the future from this talented band.

8.5/10
