Finnegan’s Hell – Work is the Curse of the Drinking Class Review

Release date: 6th March 2020

There is a horrible sort of irony in the sense I’m working on a semi-late review of an album called Work is the Curse of the Drinking Class due to the UK currently being on lockdown with no pubs open (sidenote: and as a key worker I can’t even spend my days taking it easy!) but regardless of what’s going on, this is an extremely fun and enjoyable piece you’ll want to get involved in.

As a big fan of folk-punk music, this is an album that’s right up my alley and Finnegan’s Hell tick all the right boxes with this release. It’s just brimming with energy (I can only imagine how much fun they are live, so I’ll have to make sure to catch them live in the future) and the songs are all just so damn catchy.

From opener Work is the Curse of the Drinking Class right through to closing track When I’m Dead, the album is just relentless and constantly maintains your interest. Thesongs remain fresh on every listen, with particular highlights including Six Feet Under, Friends And Foes and Parasite.

Overall, Work is the Curse of the Drinking Class is a fabulous album, and one you’ll keep wanting to come back to – the songs remain with you long after you’ve finished listening, which is the sign of an album done right.
