Soundscape favourites, Cardiff based five piece Glass Giants, are set to release the new single, D.A.N.C.E. and I have been lucky enough to get a pre-release listen, and it’s a cracker of a song, this band just gets better and better. It’s a catchy, upbeat tune, with a party-like vibe and does genuinely make you wanna dance!
The band, who are Ross Dixon – vocals, Alyn Evans and Alex Williams -Guitars, Liam Toomey – Bass and Drummer Martyn Howell, have really upped their game on this track, it’s equal parts crunchy and memorable with an infectious as hell chorus.
We caught up with the band to ask them all about D.A.N.C.E.
You have the new single D.A.N.C.E being released on May 28th, where was it recorded and with who?
We recorded D.A.N.C.E with Cardiff based producer Romesh Dodangoda down in Longwave Studios. We chose to work with Romesh because we felt that the sound he gets out of bands and the way he works would suit what we’re trying to do and we were proven correct.
What’s the song about?
The song D.A.N.C.E is about your typical night out, consisting of a lot of alcohol and fooling around, where you end up dancing with every pretty girl you set eyes on, with the idea that she might just go home with you.
How and when was it written?
We had just started the writing process of this fourth coming E.P, so we were all writing stuff in our house so that we could come to practice with a few ideas to work on. This just happened to be the first song we wrote off this E.P and ironically it’s the first single too. Ross came to practice with the idea of this song, he played the chorus and wanted a bouncy dance vibe for the song, so Martyn put some off beat drums in to give it that sort of dance vibe. Then the rest of the boys got to work on the song, with the structure and ideas for the verse while Ross wrote the lyrics to it.
You are releasing the video first on May 21st, tell us about it?
We shot the video in the Cellar Door Nightclub in Cardiff Bay with Ben from Gingenious. We don’t want to give too much away just yet because it hasn’t been released but we’re really proud of it and we had a lot of fun making it.
Is the song part of an EP? If so when will we see that?
D.A.N.C.E is part of an E.P yes. We are in the final stages of tying everything for it together and we should have an announcement very shortly.
What will the rest of this year hold for Glass Giants?
Well we’ll be releasing details of our E.P launch in the not too distant future and we’ve got a tour booked for the summer. We’re hopeful of going out again later in the year as well. We just want to keep busy and keep growing as a band and anything that happens in between is a bonus for us.
