Infirmum – Walls Of Sorrow Review

Release date: 28th February 2020

Walls Of The Sorrow is the debut album from Finnish death/doom artist Infirmum, and although it doesn’t exactly tread new ground or give you any surprises, it’s a fairly solid release that makes for a decent enough listen.

Musically, Walls Of Sorrow is sound. The tracks are nice and chunky, with crushingly heavy instrumentation paired with meaty vocals to make a powerful impact. However at times it just isn’t that memorable. There isn’t a massive amount of variety between the majority of the songs, so it can be somewhat of a struggle to remain focused on the music as the album progresses.

There are standout tracks, of course. Wake Me is one of those addictive songs that you can’t just listen to once, with just the right amount of melody to create a stunning and emotive vibe, and the riffs will surely wind up stuck in your head.

Walls Of The Sorrow is a good start for Infirmum. It has laid the foundations well for things to come, and although it doesn’t quite tick all the boxes, it’s a good listen. If you like your death/doom, then definitely give this a try.

6.5/10
