We’re running our Unsung Heroes of 2014 competition and Calvary have been entered for this. Head to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Symf0y6H68o to view their entry and like the video to vote for the band. Here’s some info about the band below.
Could you introduce yourself and tell us about your band?
Hey Soundscape, we are C A V A L R Y and we comprise of Richie Lovett, 28 (vocals) Dan Briggs, 27 (guitar) Gareth Hallybone, 26 (bass) and Joni Buckland, 27 (drums). We hail from Cardiff, South Wales and are currently gearing up for a busy summer which will see the release of our debut single ‘Mexico’ and our first music video to date.
When did the band form?
We formed back in 2012 and after two relentless years of writing, rehearsing and grafting, we debuted our live set in 2013. Since then we have been in the studio and have just finished recording our debut single ‘Mexico’ which is set for release on July 5th.
How did the band form?
We all met at a house party that Richie threw (from what we can remember). Next thing we know we were in our first band practice and somehow we ended up playing a New Year’s Eve show in Richie’s basement a few months later!
Who are your biggest influences?
Individually, our musical tastes range from folk to thrash metal! As a whole, we look to bands such as Biffy Clyro, Queens of the Stone Age, Foals and Hundred Reasons for inspiration.
What’s the biggest show you’ve ever played?
We just played a sold out show in Undertone, Cardiff which was incredible. It’s only a small venue but it means as a band, we can get really involved with the crowd and feed off of their energy.
How would you describe your live show to someone who hasn’t seen you yet?
We work tirelessly on our set to make sure it’s tight and polished because at the end of the day, that’s what people who pay to go to shows deserve. We would describe it as tight, energetic and most importantly, fun!  Basically, we want our songs to stick in your head so you wake up the next morning and take a peak at our website or log on to Spotify to have a second listen…
