Iterum Nata – The Course of Empire Review

Release date: 14th December (FI)/18th January (INT)

Well, this is a bit different – and I mean that in a very good way! The Course Of Empire is the second album from Finnish psych-occult-folk artist Iterum Nata and it’s an immersively intriguing listen that is very easy to get lost in.

The Course Of Empire is something a little different to the norm; it’s immersive and although on the outside it may sound somewhat simplistic, if you delve a little closer then you notice all the little intricacies nestled within the music. There’s a lot of colour and magic to this album, and the songwriting is absolutely masterful.

One of the definite highlights is Invocation. The half-chanted, half-sang choral vocals are absolutely stunning, and the acoustic guitar moving along with the percussion underneath throughout gives the track an energetic vibe. Additionally, the little peppering of high-pitched piano/keyboard melodies give the song a bit of a mini-epic feel, and it’s one of those songs that will get under your skin and stay with you after you’ve finished listening to it.

Iterum Nata has created something special with The Course Of Empire. This is an album NOT to be missed, so make sure you check it out!
