Jess And The Ancient Ones – The Horse And Other Weird Tales Review

It’s common knowledge that we do rather love Jess And The Ancient Ones here at Soundscape, so we’ve been eagerly awaiting album number three and The Horse And Other Weird Tales is another magnificent bit of work from the Finnish psychedelic rockers.

Jess And The Ancient Ones have created another highly immersive album and it’s so easy to get lost in the piece; the band has a really unique style. The music has a lot of layers and intricacies amidst the overall simplistic vibes, and it really works for them. It makes the music really accessible, whilst also allowing the listener to pick up on some of the smaller details at the same time.

Whilst every single song stands out in its own way, my personal favourite is one of the earlier tracks of the album, Shining. The moody vibes of the instrumentation blend well with the powerful vocal line and the psychedelic keyboard line throughout the track really helps to keep it moving – this is a track I’m already keen to witness in a live environment.

All in all, The Horse And Other Weird Tales is a very solid album and once again shows Jess And The Ancient Ones at the top of their game. What are you waiting for? Grab yourself a copy of it now!
