Picks Of The Month: June 2018

Halfway through the year, and already we’re drowning in great releases! Here’s our favourites from June, with some so good we had to pick them twice 😉

Nat’s Picks

Paradise Lost – Believe In Nothing (Remixed/Remastered)
Track to check out: Sell It To The World

I loved the original version of Believe In Nothing, but the re-released version brings it to a whole new level! It was great then, and it’s great now!

Bullet For My Valentine – Gravity
Track to check out: Gravity

Bullet’s strongest album yet. Gravity takes the band to a new level and is jam-packed full of impressive material. Blast this one loud!

Árstíðir – Nivalis
Track to check out: Please Help Me
Our review: https://www.soundscapemagazine.com/arstidir-nivalis-review/
Purchase link: https://arstidirsom.bandcamp.com/album/nivalis

A whole lot softer compared to my other two picks for June, Nivalis is a quietly beautiful listen that will give you goosebumps every time you listen to it.

Dave’s Picks

Juno Reactor – The Mutant Theater
Track to check out: Let’s Turn On
Our review: https://www.soundscapemagazine.com/juno-reactor-the-mutant-theater-review/
Purchase link: https://junoreactor.bandcamp.com/album/the-mutant-theatre

LFO’s are totally my jam. I love them. I love resonance which is one of the reasons Goa and Psy-trance appeal to me and although Juno Reactor aren’t necessarily pure trance I think it works in their favour. As The Mutant Theater sounds like a Goa album, it mixes like a Goa album but it’s structured like an organism which, for me at least, is true to the symbolism often found in the genre. It’s just so natural and dreamy. <3

PIG – Risen
Track to check out: Loud, Lawless & Lost
Our review: https://www.soundscapemagazine.com/pig-risen-review/
Purchase link: https://pigindustries.bandcamp.com/album/risen

Saucy, succulent but most importantly sensual PIG’s new album is deep chilled with backbone. Then again I am a big Juke Joint Jezebel fanboy. I don’t know if that qualifies as a revelation…

Paradise Lost – Believe In Nothing (Remixed/Remastered)
Track to check out: I Am Nothing
Our review: https://www.soundscapemagazine.com/blast-from-the-past-paradise-lost-believe-in-nothing/

Whut? I only work here because there’s an appreciation of ace tunes.
