Kaoteon’s Playlist

Lebanese black metallers Kaoteon will be releasing their album Damnatio Memoriae at the end of this week. Stay tuned for our review of it! We caught up with guitarist and founder Anthony Kaoteon to get an insight into what he’s been listening to and what bands have influenced him.

A song that influenced you
Satyricon – Mother North
It has all that a black metal somg requires. Epic slow parts that transcend the soul, Fast ripping parts that blasts the heart and the good balance of melody and darkness.

A song you wish you could have written
Mayhem – Freezing Moon
A classic tune that is so simple but yet so mesmerizing with its pounding cold riffs, fast blast beats and epic vocals.

Your favourite Kaoteon song
Wrenched
Tough to choose but when I first read this question I thought of Wrenched from the Provenance of Hatred demo. I love its rawness, rough riffs and ugly delivery.

A song you’ve been listening to a lot recently
Kaoteon – The Will
One of my 9 favorites from the upcoming album. This track has 11 riffs and each riff is from a different extreme metal genre. Yet they collide perfectly for my taste.

Your all time favourite song
Leonard Cohen – Hallelujah
Right now, Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen as I am playing it on my acoustic guitar and singing it with my ugly voice as well as a lot of Tom Waits and Nick Cave tracks that would have earned this place if you ask me this question in 5 minutes.
