L’Homme Absurde – Sleepless Review

Release date: March 26th 2018

After being very impressed by the previous release from L’Homme Absurde, Monsters, we’ve been eagerly awaiting new material from this talented post-black metal band. Sleepless is the second full-length album from L’Homme Absurde and it’s another strong offering from them.

There’s a lot of power to the release, and the vocals are once again a very strong element to the band’s sound. The snarls are something to behold; they just have a fantastic rawness to them and gives the music a lot more bite. They’re not overpowering, instead flowing fantastically with the music, and it makes for a very engaging listen as a result.

Like with Monsters, it’s a little difficult to pick out standout tracks from the album because they’re all so good, but a definite highlight is the penultimate track, Insult To Injury. There’s a great bit of energy to the track, with the instrumentation giving it a lot of movement (the hammering drums are especially good!) and with the impressive vocals on top of it all, it makes for a stunning listen.

Although Sleepless doesn’t quite hit the same heights as the previous release from L’Homme Absurde, it’s still a very good bit of work from them and certainly worth your while to check out.

8/10
