Limb – Saboteurs Of The Sun Review

Release date: 25th May 2018

Saboteurs Of The Sun, the third full-length album from Limb, is a wonderfully refreshing listen. It sees the band take a slightly different approach compared to their previous listens, and there’s a little more melody to the music – it’s not a million miles away from their two previous albums and they haven’t lost its crushing heaviness. They’ve just added a little variety to their sound.

Vocally, this is perhaps their strongest effort to date. There’s a lot of versatility to them, utilising clean, harsh and yelled approaches and they all work well. No matter what style is performed, they fit in nicely with the instrumentation and it helps keep the listener engaged with each twist and turn that is taken.

Opener Wytch Elm is one of the stronger tracks of the album. With its atmospheric introduction, you can’t help but feel drawn into it as Limb sets the scene and once the track gets moving, there’s a great deal of energy and drive to the catchy piece that will definitely get your head nodding as you listen. Meanwhile, Love Has No Name is more like some of Limb’s older material, with a somewhat sludgier vibe to it, and it’s really good to hear a bit of variation as the album progresses.

As a whole, Saboteurs Of The Sun is a great effort from Limb. Perhaps their strongest release to date, and an album well worth your time to check out.
