Thanks for the interview – can you introduce yourself to the readers please?
Hi, Mats Levén here – been singing with bands/artists like Yngwie Malmsteen, Candlemass, Therion etc for the last 20 years.
So 2014 is almost at an end – what’s gone well for you this year?
I co-wrote & recorded 5 songs with guitarist Gus G (Ozzy Osbourne) for his solo album. Did 3 tours with Gus in 2014, shows with Candlemass as well + an album with Hollow Haze and recording my solo album.
Has anything not quite gone to plan?
Not really no!
You’ve recently got involved with the 3HOMM touring project – how did that come about?
Well, they contacted me and asked…great!
What are you most looking forward to about those shows?
To be able to decide exactly what to play from my career during an hour!
On the subject of live shows, what’s the best show you’ve ever played?
Difficult question…Sweden Rock 2013 with Candlemass was great.
And perhaps the strangest or weirdest?
Probably with At Vance in Copenhagen 2005.
Is there anywhere you’d like to play that you haven’t already visited yet?
China maybe…
You’ve performed lead vocals for so many incredible bands over your career – what would you say your favourite one has been?
