Mors Subita – Into The Pitch Black Review

Release date: April 6th, 2018

Into The Pitch Black, the brand new album from Mors Subita, is a really great bit of work. Whilst it may be a fairly standard example of Finnish melodic death metal, with nothing that really sets them apart from other bands, it is nevertheless a mighty collection of tracks.

Mors Subita are relentless in their delivery. The listener barely gets time to breathe as they get presented with one kickass song after another, and the songs just sound so mighty. From the chugging riffs, to the powerful drums and the meaty vocals, everything comes together to form a very strong and impressive sound – Mors Subita knows what works for them, and have got things nailed.

There’s plenty to sink your teeth into on this album, with one of the highlights being the title track. The melody of the lead guitar line couples up nicely with the harsh vocals, juxtaposing the two different approaches nicely, and the heavy guitar riffs will definitely get your head banging. Additionally, the guitar solo in the latter half of the song is the icing on the cake!

Into The Pitch Black may not win any awards for originality, but there’s no mistaking that this is an impressive collection of tracks. Mors Subita have created an awesome listen and I can only imagine how awesome it must be to witness the spectacle of it in a live environment!
