My Dying Bride – The Ghost Of Orion Review

Release date: 6th March 2020

To be honest, I’ve been eagerly awaiting new music from My Dying Bride ever since they released their last album Feel The Misery. A friend of mine and I were discussing the other day that the band has not released a bad album to date, and that each one of their releases (including this one) are fantastic. It’s quite impressive for a band to have such a long career and not release anything slightly dodgy-sounding, but it goes to show the calibre of talent that My Dying Bride has.

The Ghost Of Orion is once again a stunning release. One of the things I love most about My Dying Bride is the sheer amount of emotion in every aspect of their sound – vocally, instrumentally and lyrically. A particularly good example of this is third track Tired Of Tears, which was also one of the songs showcased ahead of the album’s release. The lyrics are very personal, and the vocal performance accompanied by the dark-sounding riffs and violin solos will surely bring a tear to your eye – somewhat ironic, given the name of the track.

There’s not a single aspect of this album that makes you feel like the band could have done better, such is the quality of this release. It flows perfectly from start to finish, and to put it simply, hits the spot exactly. You can’t get much better than this.

10/10
