New Town Kings – Pull Up & Rewind Review

New Town Kings Pull Up And RewindGood ska can be a difficult thing to find these days, but a band that’s currently doing it right is New Town Kings, who are currently getting ready to release their new EP Pull Up & Rewind. Four tracks of chilled out yet energetic music, it’s a great little release that will get your foot tapping and your head nodding.

New Town Kings certainly know how to write a good tune that’ll get stuck in your head and Pull Up & Remind is chock-full of earworms and feel-good music. Second track Luna Rosa is a particularly strong offering, with a great brass section – the part where the sax and trumpets are in sync with each other is incredibly striking, and it packs a real punch in its short duration.

Closer Cool The Pressure Down is a triumphant way to round the EP up, with good chunky instrumentation to start that doesn’t let up as the track progresses and the vocals in this one are wonderfully smooth and chilled, almost gliding atop of the music, which is a nice touch.

Pull Up & Rewind is an enjoyable piece and with the news that New Town Kings are also working on their third album, with a release date pencilled in for the latter half of the year, the future is surely bright for this exciting band.
