Interview With New World Disorder

New World Disorder

We recently caught up with New World Disorder’s vocalist Geo for a chat. See what happened below…

Thanks for the interview. Could you introduce yourself and tell me a bit about the band?
Hey there! I am Geo, the vocalist of the band. We’re New World Disorder, a 5 piece melodic metal core band from Athens, Greece and we’ve been writing and performing heavy music since 2010! We’ve released an EP Wreckquiem, 3 singles and we’ve just finished recording our latest discography work Prometheus.

How did the band first come together?
4 years ago, Bill (bass) and Stef (former drummer) started up a metalcore project. They found Tony (our guitarist) and Tony found me! So we started jamming together, we composed our very first EP Wreckquiem and then we had to find a proper name that suit our needs. After a lot of hours of thinking (!) we came up with New World Disorder! Many line up changes later NWD now consists of Geo (vocals), Tony (guitar), Simon (guitar) and Alex (drums).

You’re currently getting ready to release your new EP Prometheus – could you tell me a little bit about the writing and recording process of it?
That’s right – we’re gonna release Prometheus this Autumn! Both the writing and recording processes were challenging as we tried to overcome ourselves and our past work. Tony and Simon brought the songs they wrote and the rest of the band added some details – I wrote the lyrical part of our EP, for example, and we recorded it with our friend and producer of all of our work Vaggelis Theodorakis. It had its ups and downs as the songs were more technical than almost anything else we did till now but we had a great time working with Vaggelis and giving life to our music once again.

Were there any songs that were more of a challenge to get right?
Beauty Sunk In Skin is the most challenging for sure! But we’re rehearsing a lot even through summer and we’re gonna be 100% ready for our release show and other live shows that we’re scheduling atm.

Which track are you most proud of?
Well I’m proud of all of our songs we’ve written so far but If I had to pick one I’d say Engaged Relief, a single we’ve released 2 years ago. We did something a little bit off from our style but it worked.

Moving onto live shows, what would you say the best show you’ve played has been?
Hmm.. I would say a live we’ve played a year ago at Kyttaro Live Club, a great venue in Athens. It was a huge show and we shared the stage with awesome bands.

What’s the best show you’ve played so far?
The best show so far was at Bow To The Kings’ release party. The crowd was crazy and we had a kickass time.

And what has been the best experience for you in the industry?
Hard to say that I had any good experience from the industry so far…I think It’s not about the music anymore. It’s all about money and for companies getting richer even if the music they promote is shit! You meet good people though and keep working on making better music for the people to like and keep hoping for better days.
