Plini – Sunhead Review

Release date: 27th July 2018

It’s always a joy to listen to Plini – there’s something so uplifting and inviting about the music he creates and it’s so easy to get lost in. His latest EP, Sunhead, is another stunning piece of work from the instrumentalist and the four tracks leave you hungry for more from the talented musician.

Each of the four tracks brings something different to the table, featuring the glorious soaring guitars that Plini is known for holding it all together and linking each track to the next. Sunhead is a very coherent and bold piece of work that plays on Plini’s strengths whilst also treading new ground, showing he isn’t afraid of experimenting and trying new approaches.

Sunhead also features some guest performances, with appearances from Devesh Dayal, John Waugh, Anomalie (not the Austrian atmospheric black metal solo project our readers will be more familiar with, however!) and Tim Miller. The different musicians all add their own stamp to the EP to help keep it varied and engaging, whilst simultneously not sounding out of place. The saxophone line in Flâneur is a definite highlight!

All in all, another fine listen from Plini. Can this talented musician do no wrong?
