Signum Regis – Through The Storm Review

signum regis through the stormThrough The Storm is the latest album from Signum Regis and whilst it’s not a terrible offering musically, its main problem is that it’s all been done before.

Put simply – this is not an album full of surprises. It’s one of those albums you could stick another band’s name on and nobody would be any the wiser, as it just plays like a standard power metal album, complete with high-hitting vocals, fast and punchy guitar lines and a bit of keyboard melody for good measure. There’s nothing wrong with it on a musical level but it just doesn’t have that special spark needed to make them stand out from the crowd.

Additionally, there isn’t much variation from song to song. Sure, everything flows quite well but each song follows the same sort of format and the album sounds like one continuous track rather than six songs with their own identity. It’s a shame because it’s a tight and together performance from start to finish and the production quality is fantastic.

As a whole, this is certainly a listenable album but it does feel that Signum Regis have it in them to do better than this.
