Soundscape’s Inverse (?) Advent 02: Manufacturer’s Pride – Sound Of God’s Absence

On day 1, I got two identical CDs for the price of 1. Now what did I get on day 2? A CD from a label that…uh, isn’t Inverse Records 😂 Oh, and it also comes with a free DVD! (Which I have yet to watch, but I suppose it’s most likely live footage and/or music videos.) Well, this is certainly getting intriguing…!

Day 02: Manufacturer’s Pride – Sound Of God’s Absence
When I first started listening to this album, I got a very vague Shade Empire vibe from it, which certainly isn’t a bad thing because SE are fucking killer! As the album progressed I sort of lost that impression, and although the clean vocals did sound a wee bit funky at times, the blend of melody and aggression was fantastic.

When I reached the tenth track, Stillborn Messiah, I have to admit my ears pricked up a little when I heard some vocals that felt rather familiar. Turns out the lead singer of my favourite band Kuolemanlaakso contributed some additional vocals for it. Well, I suppose there’s something spookily apt that this CD would inadvertently find its way to me, huh?

Track recommendation: Stillborn Messiah (oh come on as if I’d choose anything else)
