Soundscape’s Inverse Advent 03: Hedonihil – II – Symptomatic

Well this is pretty cool. Today was the first day where I’d heard of the band/project prior to opening the CD! I quite enjoyed Hedonihil’s debut but for some reason never checked this one out. Not sure why, as I’m 100% sure that I would have received a promo for it, but better late than never I suppose!

Day 03: Hedonihil – II – Symptomatic
Playing a sort of a bastardised mix of black and death metal, perhaps leaning a little more towards the black, Hedonihil does it very well. I genuinely enjoy the rather intense negativity in both the musical delivery and the lyrics; sometimes we can all do with being a little nihilistic and Hedonihil scratches that itch nicely.

Have to admit that although I do prefer the vocals on Hedonihil’s previous release, I appreciate the rawness in the delivery of the ones on II – Symptomatic and a definite highlight can be found on fifth track The Grey Walls.

Track recommendation: The Grey Walls
