Soundscape’s Inverse Advent 04: Ghorot – Loss Of Light

I was feeling pretty confident…three days in and I’d already got some pretty cool stuff! Today, not so much, but I suppose it was always going to happen at some point…

Day 04: Ghorot – Loss Of Light
I thought this was an EP at first as it only features five tracks, but according to Metal Archives this is indeed a full length release. And it’s a bit of a slog, to say the least. Loss Of Light just feels like it isn’t going anywhere, the sound quality isn’t the best (although I suppose it’s probably a stylistic choice as the music is a sort of sludgy black/doom affair) and I just can’t manage to really connect with any of it.

Artwork is really fucking killer though so Ghorot definitely gets some points for that. And I don’t think this is a necessarily bad release; it’s just not quite for me.

Track recommendation: Woven Furnace
